Inspection of Maintenance Sites and Early Warning System Operation
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] On the 19th, Han Chang-seop, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, visited the steep slope section of Local Road 403 in Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do, to inspect the safety accident prevention status such as the risk of slope collapse and falling rocks that may occur due to the weakening of the ground frozen during winter in the thawing season.
First, at the collapse risk area maintenance site, he received a report on safety management measures for construction sites during the thawing season and visually inspected risk factors such as slope collapse or falling loose stones before work.
At this occasion, Vice Minister Han urged thorough pre-inspection and removal of risk factors and requested efforts to ensure no negligence in preventing worker safety accidents.
Also, at the early warning system construction site, he checked the pre-detection and transmission system for ground subsidence and activity risk displacement, as well as the system’s operational status, and ordered continuous maintenance such as regular inspections to ensure the system operates properly when risks are detected.
Along with this, he received a report on the implementation status of the task 'Discovery and Management of New Risk Steep Slopes' included in the national safety system reform announced on the 27th of last month, and requested proper management so that the prepared tasks can be quickly applied on site.
