'Population Approaching 600,000'... Incheon Seo-gu Begins Organizational Restructuring Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Seo-gu, Incheon is set to undertake a major organizational restructuring ahead of reaching a population of 600,000.
The district announced on the 18th that it has commissioned the Korea Institute of Local Administration to conduct a five-month study on organizational restructuring.
The study will focus on redesigning the organization to respond to the increasing population and administrative demands due to new town developments such as Cheongna and Geomdan, reallocating personnel through functional job analysis, and securing momentum for policy projects under the 8th local government administration.
As of last month, Seo-gu's population was recorded at 592,298, and it is expected to surpass 600,000 by May.
Kang Beomseok, Mayor of Seo-gu, stated at the organizational diagnosis study commencement meeting on the 16th, "Seo-gu is experiencing continuous growth in population and management area due to the development of multiple new towns, a phenomenon rarely seen nationwide. We will carefully examine the district's unique characteristics and potential to find an organizational restructuring plan that can develop Seo-gu in the mid to long term."
