Animal Cafe Owner Who Killed Pet Dog by Beating with Hammer Arrested and Indicted

On the 17th, the Criminal Division 1 of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Sanghyun) announced that the day before, they had indicted owner A of the unregistered animal cafe on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act.
A, who operated an unregistered animal cafe in Mapo-gu, Seoul, is accused of hitting a dog 17 times with a hammer, causing its death, after an incident occurred in the cafe where the dog bit and killed another animal.

A prosecution official stated, "We will do our best to maintain the prosecution so that the defendant receives punishment commensurate with the crime," and added, "At the same time, we will cooperate with related organizations such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Civil Judicial Police Unit to strictly crack down on animal abuse offenders."
