Public Institution Management Evaluation Team Workshop Held

[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Joo Sang-don] The first public institution evaluation since the launch of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration has officially begun. The results will be finalized in June.

On the 17th, Choi Sang-dae, Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, attended the '2023 Public Institution Management Evaluation Team Workshop' held at the Seoul Regional Public Procurement Service and presented appointment letters to the evaluation team leader and members.

The management evaluation team was launched one month earlier than usual this year, following last year. A total of 109 experts from various fields including professors, labor attorneys, lawyers, and accountants were selected.

In his greeting, Vice Minister Choi said, "The public institution management performance evaluation is a key mechanism to encourage continuous innovation in public institutions," adding, "This evaluation is especially significant as it is the first assessment of the innovation efforts and achievements of public institutions since the new government took office."

During the workshop, evaluation schedules and methods were discussed, and precautions for the evaluation were conveyed to the evaluators, considering the first in-person inspections in three years since COVID-19.

Additional workshops will be held later this month to provide in-depth training on detailed evaluation criteria, major issues, and report writing methods to enhance the quality of the evaluation.

The management evaluation team plans to conduct preliminary reviews of the management status and projects of 130 public enterprises and quasi-governmental institutions in February, followed by document evaluations and on-site inspections of institutional performance in March and April. The evaluation results will be finalized after approval by the Public Institution Management Committee by June 20.
