Park Sang-gyu, President of SK Enmove, "Preparing to Develop Lubricants for Electric Vehicles"
Conveying Business Model Innovation Direction through Company Name Change
Developing Customized Electric Vehicle Products and Entering Thermal Management Sector
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] Park Sang-gyu, CEO of SK Enmove, a subsidiary of SK Innovation's lubricants business, stated, "We are preparing to develop electric vehicle lubricants (e-fluids) that enhance battery efficiency and safety by expanding cooperation with global electric vehicle companies targeting the electric vehicle era."
In a recent interview with SK Innovation's news channel SKino News, Park said, "We are also expanding our scope beyond vehicles to thermal management businesses such as data centers." Previously, SK Enmove acquired shares in the U.S. company GRC, a specialist in data center immersion cooling systems, last year.
He emphasized that structural improvements will also be made in existing businesses such as base oils and lubricants to secure fundamental competitiveness. Park said, "For base oils, we will ensure stable supply of high-quality products and optimize operations, and for lubricants, we will secure competitiveness by enhancing brand value. It is important that all members unite in this process to pursue the happiness of stakeholders."
He designated this year as the inaugural year for advancing into an energy efficiency company. He added, "We will be recognized for higher value through business model innovation." Park stated, "Business model innovation to expand our financial story is already underway," and "We will convey the direction of this innovation through the company name change and gain empathy and support from stakeholders."
SK Enmove changed its name to ‘SK Enmove’ in December last year. The name embodies a company that creates the power to move toward a cleaner and happier future. It overcame the limitations of the previous name, which intuitively expressed existing business areas such as base oils and lubricants, and introduced a new identity as an ‘energy efficiency company.’
Park cited the employees as SK Enmove’s greatest strength. He said, "Thanks to employees who voluntarily and enthusiastically fulfill their roles, SK Enmove’s productivity per capita is at a global top level," and urged, "In the process of advancing as an energy efficiency company, it is necessary to cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit, execution capability, and an attitude of sharing knowledge and experience."
