‘Continuing Miracle’... 42-Year-Old Woman Rescued After 222 Hours in Turkey
41,000 Dead in Turkey-Syria Earthquake
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] A survivor was miraculously found and rescued after 222 hours in the rubble on the tenth day following the strong earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
On the 15th (local time), Turkey's state broadcaster TRT Haber and Anadolu Agency reported that around 10 a.m., a 42-year-old woman was rescued from the rubble of a building in Kahramanmara?, southern Turkey. This was about 222 hours (9 days and 6 hours) after the earthquake occurred.
Local media covered the scene where the survivor, named Melike Imamoglu, was carried on a stretcher and moved to an ambulance.
The exact health condition of the survivor was not confirmed as she was covered with a thermal blanket. However, rescuers shed tears and encouraged each other after placing the survivor into the ambulance.

Rescue news continued throughout the day. Around midnight, approximately 212 hours after the earthquake, a 77-year-old female survivor was rescued in Adıyaman in the southeast.
On the morning of the 6th, at 4:17 a.m., two strong earthquakes measuring 7.8 and 7.5 struck southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria nine hours apart, plunging the region into chaos.
Since the earthquakes occurred at dawn, most people could not escape from buildings. Additionally, severe cold weather hit the area immediately after the earthquakes, causing many trapped in the rubble to miss the rescue window, resulting in numerous deaths.
