The approximately 10 products include mud packs that help with skin beauty and waste removal, seaweed high-concentration ampoules using plant softening technology effective for skin condition recovery and moisturizing, bath additives that aid in tension relief and skin hydration, and scrubs that help with skin nutrition and exfoliation.
At the evaluation meeting, positive feedback continued such as "It is not dry, and it feels refreshing with good moisturizing," "The bath additive effectively removed waste, making it refreshing and pleasant," and "The seaweed gel improved skin condition."
On the other hand, there were opinions like "There are likes and dislikes regarding the fishy smell unique to the main ingredients, seaweed and mudflats, so consideration of the scent is necessary," and "The scrub product's particles are somewhat coarse."
Meanwhile, the county is leading the marine healing industry domestically and plans to pilot operate the country's first Marine Healing Center in May, developing products to be used in 16 healing therapy facilities including seawater, mudflats, and seaweed.
Based on the opinions presented at this evaluation meeting, the county plans to develop Wando’s unique healing products by enhancing strengths and supplementing shortcomings.
The main ingredients of the therapy products are seaweed and mudflats, whose safety and excellence have been proven, and specialized resources with proven pharmacological effects such as Hwangchil, loquat, and yuzu were also utilized.
Additionally, the brand naming was finalized as MERCLAR, combining mer (sea) and Clarte (clean), and the BI is also under development.
Once the products are finalized, they plan to prove product excellence through clinical trials and patent applications and secure intellectual property rights.
Professor Choi Eun-mi of Gwangju Women's University said, "I hope differentiated and complete therapy products that can only be experienced in Wando will be produced," and promised, "We will continue to maintain a close cooperative relationship with the county to support and collaborate so that the marine healing industry can be successfully promoted."
A county official said, "Therapy products are important not only for the success of the Marine Healing Center operation but also directly linked to the success of Wando’s marine healing industry, so we will actively collect valuable opinions from the evaluation meeting and do our best to produce more eco-friendly and effective products."
