Kumho Construction Wins Contract for Re-paving Work on Incheon Airport's Second Runway
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] Kumho Construction announced on the 13th that it has won the contract for the "Second Runway Repaving and High-Speed Exit Taxiway Facility Construction (Section 4-13)" ordered by Incheon International Airport Corporation.
The project won by Kumho Construction includes ▲repaving of aging pavement facilities such as the second runway (150,000㎡ of rigid pavement, 760,000㎡ of flexible pavement), ▲construction of six high-speed exit taxiways, and one perpendicular taxiway. The construction period will take 36 months after commencement, with a total construction cost of 52.3 billion KRW.
The second runway to be repaved this time was originally constructed by Kumho Construction in 2000. It has been maintained and operated for over 20 years, and now will undergo full repaving.
This project is part of the "Incheon Airport Phase 4 Construction Project." The Phase 4 Construction Project is a large-scale airport construction project with a total budget of 4.8405 trillion KRW, promoted by Incheon International Airport Corporation. Prior to this contract, Kumho Construction has participated in the Phase 4 Construction Project through various airport works such as the second passenger terminal pile construction and apron expansion.
Kumho Construction plans to successfully complete the project based on its extensive construction experience in runways, passenger terminals, control towers, aprons, fuel pipelines, utility tunnels, and maintenance facilities. Kumho Construction has experience constructing major domestic airports including Incheon International Airport, Jeju International Airport, Muan International Airport, and Yangyang International Airport. Overseas, Kumho Construction has also successfully completed numerous airport projects such as the Puerto Princesa Airport in the Philippines, the new passenger terminal at Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the control tower in Abu Dhabi.
