Black 'The Little Mermaid' to Premiere in May
Walt Disney Company Korea announced on the 13th that the live-action film "The Little Mermaid," a reinterpretation of the animated film of the same name, will be released in May.
"The Little Mermaid" attracted attention with the casting of Black singer and actress Halle Bailey as Ariel, the main character of "The Little Mermaid" (directed by Rob Marshall). Actors Melissa McCarthy, Jonah Hauer-King, Javier Bardem, and Awkwafina also appear.
Disney animation "The Little Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast," and "Aladdin," as well as the live-action adaptations "Beauty and the Beast" and "Aladdin," feature music by the legendary film composer Alan Menken. The direction is handled by Rob Marshall, who made "Chicago" (2003) and "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" (2011).

The teaser trailer shows Ariel singing "Part of Your World," the signature song from "The Little Mermaid." The lyrics, "Up where they walk, up where they run, up where they stay all day in the sun," add curiosity about the new world she dreams of escaping to from under the sea.
