Operation of the 'Picture Book Reading Cat' Program in Buk-gu, Gwangju
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 9th that it will operate the ‘Picture Book Reading Cat’ program, a reading device rental service, to provide infants and toddlers with a new experience of reading picture books.
This program is a reading support service that connects a cat-shaped reading device to monitors, TVs, and beam projectors to simultaneously provide picture book screens and storytelling.
Daycare centers or kindergartens can use this to conduct diverse and effective reading classes for infants and toddlers.
Buk-gu plans to operate the Picture Book Reading Cat program by selecting 10 places each month through applications from daycare centers and kindergartens in the district.
Selected daycare centers, etc., will be provided with rental items such as one cat-shaped reading device and 40 book cards containing picture books for different developmental stages.
The program will run from March to December, and the application period starts on the 13th and will close on a first-come, first-served basis.
Daycare centers or kindergartens wishing to rent can download the application form from the Buk-gu Integrated Library website and apply by sending it to the person in charge via email.
Moon In, head of Buk-gu Office, said, “I hope this program will be an opportunity for infants and toddlers to develop an interest in reading,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various programs to promote reading and strengthen the role of public libraries.”
