The provincial police agency stated that although the number of drunk driving accidents has decreased due to the recent implementation of continuous drunk driving crackdowns, reports of suspected drunk driving still continue to be received.
According to the provincial police agency, as of January this year, drunk driving accidents decreased from 53 last year to 40, but an average of 13 calls per day and 424 calls per month are received through the 112 emergency number.
During this surprise drunk driving crackdown, two drivers in Yangsan with blood alcohol concentrations of 0.091% and 0.114% were caught and had their licenses revoked, while in Jinju, a driver with a measured blood alcohol concentration of 0.02% was given a warning.
The provincial police agency plans to conduct joint crackdowns with the police mobile unit and the provincial police undercover patrol team at all police stations in the province for 21 days starting from this crackdown until the 28th.
