MS Integrates AI Like ChatGPT into Search Engine 'Bing'
Google Announces Bard Release Within Weeks the Day Before
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Microsoft (MS) announced on the 7th (local time) that it will integrate an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot into its search engine Bing.
According to Bloomberg News and others, MS held a press event on the same day to announce the new AI-based search engine 'Bing.' The new version of Bing will be equipped with an AI model similar to the AI chatbot 'ChatGPT.' The model was developed by OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT.
ChatGPT is the GPT-3.5 version, an upgraded version of GPT-3, which has more than 175 billion parameters. Foreign media reported that MS only stated that Bing is running on a 'new next-generation language model' and did not specifically mention that it is based on GPT-4.
This search engine provides conversational answers along with traditional search results when users input questions in conversational language. For example, if traveling to Mexico for five days, users can request 'Plan a travel itinerary' and then ask additional questions like 'How much will it cost?' or 'Can I add or change the itinerary?'
Satya Nadella, CEO, said, "We want to show how we will reshape the largest software category on Earth," adding, "This is the search we have long researched and are very excited about." He continued, "This is a new day for search, a new 'paradigm' for search," emphasizing, "Rapid and fast innovation will come."
MS also added that AI technology will be integrated into the Edge browser, a web browser, along with the Bing search engine.
