"I Will Build a Dense Social Safety Net"... Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok to Form a Special Committee for Livelihood Stability
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon, emphasized on the 6th, "We will create Incheon, a world-class city where citizens are happy through the establishment of a dense social safety net."
On the same day, Mayor Yoo attended the 50th Incheon Welfare Forum, invited by the Incheon Social Welfare Council, and introduced Incheon's customized welfare policies centered on the needs of the users. About 200 social welfare workers, related personnel, and academic experts participated in the forum.
Mayor Yoo stressed that he will implement welfare policies of 'Sympathetic Welfare 2.0' with citizens, prioritizing citizens' happiness and livelihood recovery as the top policy task to protect citizens' lives.
He plans to revitalize the local community security council to establish a citizen安心 welfare system, support customized welfare services by life cycle from infants to the elderly, and also focus on building welfare infrastructure through the construction and relocation of social welfare centers and expansion of social welfare facilities for the elderly and disabled.
In particular, Mayor Yoo announced that he will form a 'Livelihood Stability Special Committee' directly under the mayor to respond quickly and proactively to livelihood issues such as the recent emergency heating cost support for low-income households.
Earlier, the city decided to provide a total of 17.3 billion KRW in special heating cost support to all households of low-income residents including basic livelihood security recipients, social welfare facilities, and near-poverty groups who are experiencing difficulties in daily life due to the increase in heating costs.
