'Core Mission Implementation Plan' Announcement
Leading On-Site Regulatory Improvements
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] This year, the Korea Startup Promotion Agency will focus on enhancing the global competitiveness of startups and fostering deep-tech (new industry) startups. It will also take the lead in improving regulations in the startup field.
The Korea Startup Promotion Agency, under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, announced its key mission implementation plan for this year on the 3rd. The key missions are △ enhancing startups' global competitiveness △ focused nurturing of deep-tech startups △ company-wide efforts to discover and improve startup regulations.
First, to enhance startups' global competitiveness, collaboration with domestic and international partners will be strengthened. To this end, networks for overseas expansion will be established through cooperation with global large corporations and foreign diplomatic missions.
By utilizing the Startup Immigration Comprehensive Support System (OASIS) and others, an environment for the smooth inflow of overseas talent and capital into Korea will be created to promote the globalization of the startup ecosystem.
To secure and preoccupy technological capabilities in the digital economy era, deep-tech startups will be intensively nurtured. The 'Super-gap Startup 1000+' project, included in the national agenda, will be promoted to accelerate the scale-up of super-gap startups in new industry sectors.
Finally, company-wide capabilities will be concentrated on identifying regulations in the startup field and preparing improvement measures. Regulation issues will be continuously discovered on-site, and efforts will be made to resolve regulatory difficulties through consulting with industry and legal experts.
