Prosecutors Indict Broadcasting Commission Manager on Suspicion of TV Chosun License Renewal Fraud
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Kyung-jun] A Broadcasting and Communications Commission (KCC) official accused of improperly interfering in the TV Chosun license renewal review process has been indicted while in custody.
The Criminal Division 5 of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Park Kyung-seop) indicted KCC Manager Cha on the 31st for improperly intervening in the TV Chosun license renewal process.
Manager Cha is accused of obstruction of business for informing the final evaluation score during the comprehensive programming channel license renewal review in 2020 while working in the broadcasting policy department and requesting modifications to the score sheet.
After being detained, Manager Cha filed a detention review petition with the court, but the court dismissed it after the hearing, stating "there is no reason for the petition."
