Wando-gun Selects 3 Villages for Returning Farmers and Fishing Villages Harmony Program
Secured Total Project Budget of 45 Million KRW
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 31st that three villages?Yonghang-ri in Geumeil-eup, Cheonggye-ri in Cheongsan-myeon, and Cha-u-ri in Geumdang-myeon?have been selected for the ‘Jeollanam-do 2023 Returning Farmers and Fishermen Harmony Village Creation Project,’ securing a total project budget of 45 million KRW.
The ‘Returning Farmers and Fishermen Harmony Village Creation Project’ is a program implemented to resolve conflicts between returning farmers and fishermen and local residents, and to spread a warm community culture.
The county received high evaluations for creating project plans that reflected the unique characteristics of each village through the number of incoming returnees and resident meetings in the three villages.
The main project details include creating camellia trees and flower paths on the beach in Yonghang Village, constructing flower beds along the path to Beombawi Rock and making ceramic nameplates in Cheonggye Village, and landscaping the village’s central road and the Geumdang Palgyeong Multipurpose Center in Cha-u Village. Each village’s project was designed as a distinctive integration effort with returnees.
Kim Il, the head of Cha-u Village in Geumdang-myeon, expressed his ambition, saying, “We will develop the village into a successful model of returning farmers and fishermen through harmonious cooperation between returnees and residents.”
Jung In-ho, Director of Population and Job Policy, stated, “The county will discover and actively support various policies such as the Wando-style Harmony Village Creation Project to make Wando a desirable and livable place for returning farmers and fishermen.”
