Seongnam City announced on the 26th that it will conduct a focused crackdown on delinquent vehicles from the 1st of next month until the end of the year to reduce unpaid automobile taxes and automobile fines.
The crackdown targets 12,130 vehicles with a total delinquent amount of 8.2 billion KRW. Breaking down these vehicles, 7,041 vehicles have unpaid automobile taxes for two or more times (delinquent amount of 3.4 billion KRW), and 5,089 vehicles have automobile fines of 300,000 KRW or more due to parking violations and others (delinquent amount of 4.8 billion KRW).
The city will form four teams of ten license plate seizure officers operating three times a week jointly across the three districts of Sujeong, Jungwon, and Bundang.
Especially during early morning hours (6 a.m. to 8 a.m.) and afternoon hours (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.), officers will focus on visiting near the homes of delinquents, workplace parking lots, and large building parking lots to remove license plates from delinquent vehicles.
This crackdown will utilize smartphone delinquency video viewers that recognize delinquent vehicles and vehicle-mounted enforcement devices.
Seized license plates can only be retrieved by visiting the enforcement department of the city or district office listed on the seizure certificate and paying all delinquent amounts.
