Gyeonggi-do Focuses on Identifying Vulnerable Households Using 39 Types of Data Including Health Insurance Fee Arrears
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is set to intensively identify vulnerable households within the province based on 39 types of data, including health insurance premium arrears.
On the 25th, the province announced that it will conduct the 'Vulnerable Residents and Households Planned Identification' project, linked with the Ministry of Health and Welfare and local governments, a total of six times this year. In the first phase, by March, the province will identify candidates through 39 types of crisis indicator data such as health insurance premium arrears, financial delinquencies, and telecommunication fee arrears via the Social Security Information System.
Last year, the province conducted planned identification targeting households with health insurance premium arrears and middle-aged single-person households, discovering 15,251 potential vulnerable individuals. Through this, 1,121 cases of public support such as basic livelihood security and emergency welfare, and 6,507 cases of private support were provided.
Since last year, the province has been operating both an emergency welfare crisis counseling hotline (010-4419-7722) and a call center (031-120). As of the 18th of this year, 885 cases have been linked to public and private support.

Kim Neung-sik, Director of the Welfare Bureau of the province, said, "We are actively and continuously striving to identify welfare blind spots through big data utilization for planned identification and operation of the emergency welfare crisis counseling call center, but residents' participation is crucial." He urged, "If you discover neighbors in crisis who are struggling around you, please do not hesitate to contact the emergency welfare crisis counseling hotline, call center, or the eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare center."
