Jeju Airport Grounded, Temporary Flights Deployed... Total of 5,500 Departure Seats Supplied
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Korea Airports Corporation Jeju Airport announced on the 24th that when flight operations resume on the 25th, 38 additional domestic temporary flights (21 departures, 17 arrivals) will be deployed to transport passengers from canceled flights.
Among the 21 temporary flights departing from Jeju Airport, the routes include Gimpo 16 flights, Incheon 2 flights, Busan 2 flights, and Daegu 1 flight, with a total of 5,503 seats available.
By airline, the temporary flights departing are: Korean Air 5 flights (752 seats), Asiana Airlines 8 flights (2,550 seats), Jin Air 4 flights (958 seats), Air Busan 2 flights (360 seats), and T'way Air 3 flights (883 seats).
Jeju Air is currently negotiating to increase temporary flights. Other airlines have no plans to increase temporary flights at this time.
Additionally, one more international arrival flight will be added.
Accordingly, the total number of flights on the 25th, including temporary flights, will be 499 domestic flights (251 departures, 248 arrivals) and 11 international flights (5 departures, 6 arrivals), totaling 510 flights.
On the 24th, due to strong winds and other factors, Jeju Airport canceled all 466 domestic flights (233 departures, 233 arrivals) and 10 international flights (5 departures, 5 arrivals), totaling 476 flights.

Jeju Airport estimated that approximately 35,000 to 40,000 passengers were stranded in Jeju due to flight cancellations based on departing flights.
