Juhyung Kim 'Tied 6th'... Ram 'Already 2 Wins in the New Year'
Juhyung Kim Scores 5 Under Par on Final Day at American Express
‘PGA star attraction’ Kim Joo-hyung has entered the ‘Top 10’.
On the 22nd (local time), Kim Joo-hyung finished the final day of the American Express (total prize money $8 million) of the 2022/2023 PGA Tour season at the Stadium Course in La Quinta, California (par 72, 7,187 yards) with a 5-under-par round, tying for 6th place (23-under-par 265). This marks his third ‘Top 10’ finish of the season, following a tie for 5th at the season-opening Sentry Tournament of Champions (TOC) two weeks ago.

Starting tied for 5th place, 5 strokes behind the leader, Kim Joo-hyung recorded seven birdies and two bogeys. He gained momentum with birdies on holes 2, 4, and 5, but was abruptly halted by consecutive bogeys on holes 6 and 7. However, he changed the momentum with birdies on holes 8 and 11 (both par 5s), and showed strong finishing power with back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17. His long drives averaged 315.9 yards, and his ‘pinpoint iron shots’ had a green hit rate of 77.78%. He completely wiped away the disappointment of missing the cut at last week’s Sony Open.
World No. 4 Jon Rahm (Spain) shot 4-under to secure a one-stroke victory (27-under-par 261). This was his second win of the new year in just two weeks since his TOC victory, his ninth career win, and earned him $1.44 million (approximately 1.78 billion KRW) in prize money. Davis Thompson (USA) finished second (26-under-par 262). Xander Schauffele tied for 3rd (25-under-par 263), World No. 2 Scottie Scheffler tied for 11th (22-under-par 266), and Patrick Cantlay (all USA) tied for 26th (18-under-par 270).
