Renovation of Aging Water Purification Plants, Expansion of Local Water Supply Systems, and Increase of Sewage Treatment Facilities

Creating a Comfortable "Su (Water)" Environment by Improving Water Supply and Sewage Coverage Rates

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun (Governor Kim Sunho) announced that it will promote projects such as the maintenance of aging water purification plants, expansion of local water supply systems, and expansion of sewage treatment facilities to provide clean and safe tap water to local residents.

In 2023, the county will promote various water supply and sewage infrastructure expansion projects, including 1.2 billion KRW for establishing a revised basic plan for Gurye-gun water supply maintenance, 700 million KRW for the Hwangjeon District local water supply expansion project, and 300 million KRW for the Sandong-myeon sewage treatment area improvement project.

In addition, through the ongoing annual project of maintaining aging water supply networks, it will carry out maintenance of aging pipes (40.7 km) and leakage detection and repair (523 km). It will also take the lead in protecting water resources by improving water quality through professional facility management and operation, including private consignment operation of village sewage treatment facilities and other environmental basic facilities (45 locations, 1.3 billion KRW) and technical diagnosis (7 locations, 400 million KRW).

Furthermore, to create a pleasant environment for the operation and management of water purification facilities, the aging water purification plants that have been in use for over 30 years will be integrated and upgraded, and the aging water purification plant maintenance project, which aimed to establish the Gurye Integrated Water Purification Plant, will be completed by the end of the year.

Governor Kim Sunho said, “We will do our best to stably supply clear and clean water to the residents with the goal of supplying local water throughout Gurye and improving the sewage coverage rate.”
