"Don't Worry If You're Sick During Seol Holiday"...Check Open Medical Institutions
[Asia Economy Reporter Byeon Seon-jin] The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 19th that it will provide information on hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and screening clinics open from the 21st to the 24th to minimize inconvenience in medical use during the Lunar New Year holiday and ensure a safe holiday without medical gaps.
For emergency patients, 525 emergency room operating institutions will provide 24-hour treatment as usual during the holiday period. Some public health medical institutions, including public health centers, will continue to provide treatment even on the Lunar New Year day, the 22nd.
Information on hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and screening clinics open during the Lunar New Year holiday can be obtained through the Health and Welfare Call Center (129), Emergency Situation Management Center (119), and City/Province Call Centers (120). It can also be checked via the Emergency Medical Portal, the Ministry of Health and Welfare website, and the Emergency Medical Information Application.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare and local governments operate emergency medical situation rooms during the Lunar New Year holiday to ensure the emergency medical system functions properly, and they inspect the operation status of open hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, screening clinics, and temporary screening test sites.
In addition, the Central Emergency Medical Situation Room (National Medical Center) operates 24 hours a day, and the Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMAT) of 42 disaster base hospitals nationwide will maintain a standby status to respond to disasters and mass casualty incidents as usual.

Park Hyang, Public Health Policy Officer at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said, “We will do our best to operate the emergency medical system during the holiday so that the public can have a safe and comfortable Lunar New Year holiday.” He added, “Since the number of emergency room visits is expected to increase during the holiday, we ask that non-emergency mild patients check and use open hospitals, clinics, or public health centers rather than emergency rooms whenever possible.”
