This agreement is the third mutual cooperation pact following those with Chungcheongnam-do and Jeollanam-do.
On the 17th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it signed the "Gyeonggi-Jeonbuk Mutual Development Agreement" at the Jeonbuk Provincial Office, committing to joint efforts for a livable local era and the realization of a new Republic of Korea.
Governor Kim Dong-yeon expressed after signing the agreement, "Today is a very joyful day as Gyeonggi Province and Jeollabuk-do sign a mutual development agreement, creating a great opportunity to generate synergy together." He added, "Through this mutual cooperation agreement, I hope to pave the way for achievements by collaborating on startups and ventures, cooperation on climate change including the renewable energy industry, and supplying Jeollabuk-do's excellent eco-friendly agricultural products to Gyeonggi schools, starting from small-scale cooperation."
He continued, "I hope practical results will be achieved quickly so that residents of both regions can see tangible outcomes," and proposed, "One of our slogans is 'If Gyeonggi Province changes, Korea changes.' I hope that by signing this agreement with Jeollabuk-do today, we can say, 'If Jeollabuk-do and Gyeonggi Province join forces and change together, Korea will change.'"
Governor Kim Kwan-young of Jeonbuk said, "I consider today's agreement very meaningful, and I hope the strengths of Gyeonggi Province and Jeonbuk Province will combine well to become a small motive that can change the entire Republic of Korea." He added, "It is more important how we manage and achieve results after signing the agreement, and this can be an important condition for signing further agreements. I believe today is the starting point. Governor Kim and I will keep in frequent contact and make efforts to ensure the agreements made today bear fruit. I hope this agreement between the two local governments will open a full-fledged local era and become a great start that can also help the future of Korea."
On the same day, the two local governments agreed to cooperate on eight major projects: ▲activation of exchanges in startups and ventures ▲cooperation to promote the hometown love donation system ▲mutual cooperation in renewable energy and hydrogen industries ▲efforts for the successful hosting of the 25th World Scout Jamboree ▲expansion of youth communication and exchange ▲expansion of eco-friendly agricultural product supply for school meals ▲mutual online listing and operation of a marketplace for local agricultural specialties ▲joint performance of fishery product inspections and mutual information exchange.
