KOTRA, Recruiting Companies for Global ESG+ Projects Participation
Support of up to 10 million to 30 million KRW by Business Type
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] KOTRA announced on the 17th that it is recruiting participating companies for the '2023 Global ESG+ Project,' which supports the overseas ESG activities of Korean companies.
Applications will be accepted until the 13th of next month, and the first project implementation period is until the first half of this year. Eligible applicants include small and medium-sized enterprises, venture startups, returnee companies, startups, social enterprises, and cooperatives interested in overseas ESG activities, as well as large corporations, associations, public institutions, and public enterprises that can collaborate on joint projects with them. The companies must have business locations in Korea.
Participating companies can receive support of up to 10 million KRW or 30 million KRW within the donation value limit when they donate their products, equipment, or materials, provide technology, management, or service training programs, or transfer or donate idle equipment. Through these ESG activities, participating companies will have opportunities to strengthen networking with local beneficiaries or governments and can also establish a foothold for entering local markets by promoting their products. When conducting ESG events locally, support of up to 5 million KRW is available through KOTRA’s overseas trade offices for venue and vehicle rental, hiring interpreters, media promotion, and more.
In particular, starting this year, KOTRA plans to conduct tailored ESG projects by pre-announcing beneficiary organizations and lists of desired donation products by country based on local demand surveys. If a participating company’s products correspond to the desired donation products, they can prioritize selecting beneficiaries and receive additional points during the selection process. Detailed information is available on the KOTRA website or via phone inquiry.

Kim Taeho, Head of KOTRA’s Economic and Trade Cooperation Division, which oversees the Global ESG+ Project, said, “Since 2012, during a time when corporate social responsibility has been emphasized, KOTRA has supported overseas CSR projects for domestic small and medium-sized enterprises for the past 10 years. We ask for your interest as practicing global ESG management can serve as a stepping stone not only for product exports and local market entry but also for overseas demonstrations and follow-up project execution, providing various opportunities.”
