Gyeonggi Province will offer a 10% discount on international express mail fees for multicultural families within the province.
View original image[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is partnering with the Gyeongin Regional Post Office this year to provide a 10% discount on international express mail service (EMS) fees throughout the year for multicultural families in the province.
The two organizations have continuously carried out this project since signing a related agreement in 2011 to support the early settlement of multicultural families in Korea.
Eligible beneficiaries include multicultural families such as marriage immigrants (non-naturalized persons) and naturalized citizens (those who have acquired nationality). They can send international express mail to their home countries at a discounted rate from any of the 470 post offices in the province by simply presenting an ID that verifies their multicultural family status, a family relation certificate (marriage certificate), or household member verification documents.
According to the province, last year, 4,118 cases and approximately 23 million KRW in fee discounts were provided to multicultural families at the 470 post offices in the province. The discount per case was about 5,600 KRW.
However, due to the mandatory pre-clearance information provision for international mail, all details on the label, including sender and recipient addresses and item descriptions, must be written in English.
