Suwon City Cracks Down on Illegal Activities at 524 Wastewater Discharge Facilities
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will conduct special monitoring of environmental pollution activities at wastewater pollutant discharge facilities in the area before and after the Lunar New Year holiday.
Suwon City announced that from the 16th to the 20th of this month, it will carry out intensive inspections targeting small businesses and facilities discharging hazardous wastewater (plating facilities) within the city. Earlier, on the 13th, the city sent cooperation letters requesting voluntary inspections to all 524 wastewater pollutant discharge facilities.
The city will especially set up and operate a situation room to prepare for environmental pollution accidents during the Lunar New Year holiday from the 21st to the 24th of this month, monitor wastewater discharge facilities, and strengthen patrols of four rivers and tributaries: Hwanggujicheon, Seohocheon, Suwoncheon, and Woncheonlicheon.
Additionally, from the 25th to the 27th, environmental technical consulting will be provided to businesses discharging wastewater pollutants.
