Opening of the 'Juso Information Utilization Support Center' to Lead the Address Information Industry
Opening Ceremony Held in Sejong-si
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] A 'Address Information Utilization Support Center' will be established to create the future growth engine of the 'address information industry' and support the utilization of address information in various social sectors.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 16th that tomorrow, at Jeoljaero, Sejong Special Self-Governing City, the opening ceremony of the 'Address Information Utilization Support Center' will be held with the attendance of Han Chang-seop, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and Kim Jeong-ryeol, President of the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation.
Until now, addresses have been assigned centered on ground roads and buildings, but due to social demand and technological development, they have expanded to three-dimensional roads (ground, elevated, underground, etc.), buildings, objects, and spaces, enabling location communication anywhere. Furthermore, with the emergence of advanced technologies promoting the 4th Industrial Revolution, addresses have established themselves as a key means of location communication between humans and humans, and between humans and robots.
Korea's address information industry is expanding from the traditional road-centered model to a new industrial model field where addresses are converged and combined with autonomous driving, artificial intelligence, and more.
In particular, although Korea's address system was introduced later than other OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries, it has received high international recognition for its excellent location predictability, and some countries are currently considering adopting the Korean-style address system.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has established the ‘Address Information Utilization Support Center’ and entrusted its operations to the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation to ▲activate the use of advanced address information, ▲promote the address information industry, ▲and support service innovation based on addresses in daily life and administration.
The top priority of the Address Information Utilization Support Center is to provide a catalyst for the domestic address information industry by developing and disseminating address information industry models and building and distributing common data necessary for creating new services.
Additionally, the Korean-style address system, recognized for its excellence, will be branded as K-Address, and support will be provided for domestic companies to expand overseas.
