Private in Taebaek, Gangwon, Found Dead in Training Ground Tent
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] A soldier was found dead while sleeping in a tent on the parade ground ahead of cold-weather training in Taebaek, Gangwon Province, prompting military authorities to launch an investigation.
According to military authorities and the police on the 13th, around 7 a.m. during morning roll call on the 12th, soldier A (in his 20s) was found dead in the parade ground of an army unit in Taebaek.
The military believes that Private A, a second-class private, died while sleeping inside a tent on the parade ground during so-called "cold-weather adaptation training" ahead of the harsh winter conditions.
The military authorities have found no evidence of criminal suspicion related to Private A's death and are investigating the exact circumstances.
