MoF Reveals Results of 'Most Admired Boss' Vote
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Lee Jun-hyung] Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho received the highest number of votes in the Ministry of Economy and Finance's 'Most Admired Boss' poll. It is the first time in seven years that a Deputy Prime Minister has been named as the 'Most Admired Boss' in the Ministry.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance branch of the National Public Officials Labor Union announced that 16 people were selected in the 'Most Admired Boss' poll, including five at the director level or higher and eleven at the manager level. The 'Most Admired Boss' is a vote conducted among Ministry employees targeting those at the manager level or above. It began in 2004 during the Ministry of Finance and Economy era and has been held for 19 years this year.
What stands out is that Deputy Prime Minister Choo Kyung-ho was named as a 'Most Admired Boss.' In particular, it is reported that Deputy Prime Minister Choo received the highest number of votes. This is the first time in seven years since former Deputy Prime Minister Choi Kyung-hwan in 2015 that a Deputy Prime Minister has been selected as a 'Most Admired Boss.' This is interpreted as a result of strengthening direct communication with employees to build consensus.
At the director level or higher, those selected include Deputy Prime Minister Choo Kyung-ho, Kim Yoon-sang, Director General of Fiscal Management (Grade 1), Kim Eon-seong, Director of Public Policy Bureau, Kim Dong-il, Director of Economic Budget Review, and Choi Ji-young, Director of International Finance Bureau. At the manager level, those selected were Kang Jun-mo, Manager of Pension and Health Budget Division; Kim Moon-geon, Manager of Tax Analysis Division; Kim Bong-jun, Manager of Trade Policy Division; Seo Jin-ho, Head of Personnel Operations Team; Shim Hyun-woo, Manager of Foreign Exchange System Division; Oh Ki-nam, Manager of Fiscal Policy Coordination Division; Yoon Soo-hyun, Manager of Budget Management Division; Lee Jun-beom, Manager of International Economy Division; Jo Yong-rae, Manager of Environmental Energy Taxation Division; Han Jae-yong, Manager of Value-Added Taxation Division; and Hwang Seok-chae, Head of Organization System Team. Among the managers, Kim Bong-jun received the highest number of votes.
Meanwhile, five people?Kim Yoon-sang, Director General; Kim Eon-seong, Director; Kim Dong-il, Director; Oh Ki-nam, Manager; and Han Jae-yong, Manager?were inducted into the 'Hall of Fame.' Those selected as 'Most Admired Boss' three or more times are inducted into the Hall of Fame. In such cases, they are excluded from the voting pool from the following year.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance labor union stated, "This vote comprehensively evaluates leadership, ability, and character of executives," and added, "We will continue to strive to strengthen consensus between executives and employees and to develop a healthy organizational culture."
