[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province is expanding its youth cultural welfare card support project.
The province announced on the 12th that it will lower the eligible age by 2 years starting this year for the "Youth Cultural Welfare Card" support project, which aims to provide opportunities for youth self-development and enjoyment of cultural life.
The support targets youth aged 19 to 28 (born between 1995 and 2004) who have resided in Jeonnam for more than 2 years.
Each individual will receive 200,000 KRW annually for cultural welfare expenses. With the expanded eligibility, about 30,000 more people are expected to benefit compared to last year.
Applications can be submitted from February 1 to 28. Online applications are available on the Gwangju Bank website for city residents and on the Nonghyup Card website for county residents. Applications can also be made in person at the local town or township community service centers corresponding to the resident registration address.
The Youth Cultural Welfare Card is issued as a check card, and the support funds are provided as points on the card. The funds can be used for one year within Jeonnam for cultural welfare expenses such as attending performances, taking academy classes, purchasing books, and engaging in sports activities.
In 2022, about 20,000 affiliated stores were secured, and cultural welfare expenses were provided to 78,818 people, offering various cultural activity opportunities to youth and receiving favorable reviews.
