The attraction of the semiconductor specialized complex is also a major pledge of Mayor Joo Gwang-deok of Namyangju.
Mayor Joo Gwang-deok stated on the 10th, ahead of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's briefing session on the national advanced strategic industry specialized complex contest, that he met with Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Han-jung (Namyangju-eul, Ranking Member of the National Assembly's Trade, Industry, Small and Medium Business Committee) and First Vice Minister Jang Young-jin of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to actively request support for promoting regional issues such as attracting the national advanced industrial complex including the semiconductor specialized complex to Namyangju.
Mayor Joo especially emphasized that "for balanced regional development and securing competitiveness in national strategic projects, Namyangju, which has the shortest distance accessibility to the Seoul metropolitan area, should take the lead," and proposed expanding the K-semiconductor belt, centered in southwestern Gyeonggi, to the northeastern part of Gyeonggi.

He also requested active cooperation from the National Assembly and central government ministries so that Namyangju can advance as a high-tech industrial city with self-sustaining functions. In response, lawmaker Kim Han-jung said, "I will help Namyangju to emerge as a high-tech industrial hub in the northeastern metropolitan area."
