According to the legal community on the 9th, the Ulsan District Prosecutors' Office summoned former Mayor Song for investigation last month. This investigation is related to suspicions that a local Ulsan businessman, Mr. A, provided tens of millions of won to Song's campaign around the 2018 local elections.
The prosecution believes that Mr. A gave bribes to key figures in the campaign, anticipating Song's chances of winning and seeking future business favors. They are also investigating a key member of Song's election campaign who allegedly received money from Mr. A, as well as one member of the Ulsan Citizens' Newspaper Committee at the time who had financial dealings with Mr. A.
