'False Epilepsy Military Service Fraud' Another Broker's Arrest Warrant Hearing Today
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Seoyul] Amid the recent spread of false epilepsy military service evasion allegations, a decision on whether to detain a broker involved in the military service evasion charges is scheduled for today. This individual is different from the broker previously detained and indicted.
On the 9th, Judge Hong Jinpyo, in charge of warrants at the Seoul Southern District Court, will conduct a pre-arrest detention hearing (warrant substantive examination) for the military service broker Kim on the same day at 10:30 AM.
Kim is reported to have, along with Gu, who was detained and indicted last December, arranged for fake epilepsy diagnoses to evade military service, and during this process, even made threatening proposals.
The prosecution had requested an arrest warrant for Kim once, but it was dismissed.
The Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office and the Military Manpower Administration have formed a 'Joint Investigation Team for Military Service Evasion' since early December last year and are conducting investigations.
