Previously, Deputy Director Nam was accused of defamation by a civic group after claiming on her social media service (SNS) on October 30 of last year, the day after the Itaewon tragedy, that the incident occurred because security personnel were concentrated in the presidential office due to the relocation of the presidential office to the Yongsan Ministry of National Defense. The police reportedly judged that Nam's post was merely an expression of opinion and did not constitute defamation under criminal law.
