[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) has laid the groundwork for revitalizing overseas exchange projects through a meeting held with the U.S. Embassy in Korea.
Although Geumcheon-gu established a sister city relationship with Bergen County, New Jersey, USA in 2004, practical exchanges had been suspended for a long time. Taking this meeting as an opportunity, the district aims to activate sister city exchanges in the future and further lay the foundation for G-Valley small and medium-sized venture companies to enter the North American market.
The "Geumcheon-gu and U.S. Embassy in Korea Friendly Cooperation Meeting" was held in the small conference room of Geumcheon-gu Office, attended by 14 people including Byron Tsao, Head of Domestic Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Korea.
At the meeting with the U.S. Embassy officials, Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon emphasized the development process of G-Valley, the digital industrial complex in Gasan-dong, and the brand value of small and medium-sized venture companies with global competitiveness.
He also requested that the U.S. Embassy serve as a bridge for mutually beneficial relations between Geumcheon-gu and the United States in the future.
After the meeting, the U.S. Embassy officials visited SK Broadband Gasan IDC within the Gasan Digital Complex to inspect Korea’s advanced data management systems and facilities, and then visited the Seoul Takju Guro Union Manufacturing Site (Seoul Saengjangsu Makgeolli Manufacturing Site) to observe the makgeolli brewing process firsthand and experience Korean culture through traditional liquor tasting.
