20s Man Sent to Prosecution for Making 300 Million KRW by Fraudulent Sales of Idol Photocards
A Total of 49 Victims Including 14 Minors and 22 Foreigners
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Taewon] A man in his 20s, accused of taking hundreds of millions of won by receiving payments for selling unreleased photocards of a famous idol group and then disappearing, has been handed over to the prosecution while in custody.
The Eunpyeong Police Station in Seoul announced on the 3rd that they arrested Mr. A on charges of fraud and transferred him to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office on the 29th of last month. According to the police, Mr. A posted on social networking services (SNS) that he would sell unreleased photocards of a specific idol group, received advance payments, but did not send the goods.

Police investigations revealed that the number of victims who reported Mr. A reached a total of 49, including 14 minors and 22 foreigners. The total damage amounted to nearly 300 million won. Mr. A is currently known to be unable to repay the damages. A police official stated, "It appears that the money earned from the fraudulent activities was squandered on personal living expenses such as paid donations during internet broadcasts."
