Jang Seon-i and 3 Others Win Korea Women Journalists Award Including SBS Reporter
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The Korean Women Journalists Association announced on the 3rd that Jang Seon-i of SBS and Jeon Hon-ip, Choi Na-sil, and Choi Eun-seo of The Korea Times were selected as recipients of the '20th Korean Women Journalists Award.'

View original imageIn the reporting category, reporter Jang was chosen for her coverage of 'The Horrors of War in the Lviv Region of Ukraine.' The judging panel praised her for "staying the longest period (33 days) among Korean journalists in an overseas war zone and exposing the horrors of war and inhumane sexual violence crimes with indomitable journalistic spirit."
Regarding the reporters from The Korea Times' Minority Team in the Agenda Planning Department, who won in the planning category for 'A Series on Developmental and Mental Disabilities ? Meeting Our 'Inside and Outside' Developmental and Mental Disabled,' the award rationale explained, "They delicately yet candidly revealed the tragic lives of developmental and mental disabled people and their families, who are among the 'voiceless' in our society, garnering strong empathy from readers and prompting changes in government policy."

The Korean Women Journalists Association has been selecting female journalists who have set new milestones in Korean society through outstanding reporting and coverage each year since 2004, awarding them the 'Female Journalist of the Year Award.' From last year, marking its 60th anniversary, the name was changed to the 'Korean Women Journalists Award.'
