EU Urges North Korea to Cease Military Tension Escalation Activities
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The European Union (EU) recently called on North Korea to "cease acts that escalate military tensions" after it intruded into South Korean airspace with a drone and launched ballistic missiles, the EU said on the 2nd (local time).
A spokesperson for the European External Action Service (EEAS), the EU's diplomatic service, stated in an afternoon press release, "North Korea's continuous violations of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and recent remarks suggesting it will continue such illegal acts do not benefit the North Korean people," emphasizing this point.
Earlier, North Korea intruded into South Korean airspace with a drone on the 26th of last month. Subsequently, it launched short-range ballistic missiles consecutively on the last day of 2022 and the first day of the new year.
