On this day, Mayor Jo Gyu-il stated, "Last year, as we began the 8th term of the elected government, Season 2 of Prosperous Jinju, we accelerated the realization of a prosperous Jinju and happy citizens. We also received wide external recognition for remarkable achievements such as winning three crowns at the 5th Our Neighborhood Character contest and the Presidential Award at the Korea City Awards." He emphasized, "In 2023, we will focus on enhancing the city's growth potential by completing the three major projects of Prosperous Jinju, and on creating a sustainable and livable city. Let us all work together with a proactive attitude to make a city where all citizens are happy."
At the opening ceremony, Mayor Jo and about 300 employees conducted the reading of the Public Officials' Charter and took the public officials' integrity pledge, reaffirming their commitment to preventing corruption in the public sector and establishing a culture of integrity.

Prior to the opening ceremony, Jinju City held a New Year's breakfast at the City Hall Welfare Center after sequentially paying respects at the Imjin Battle Memorial, the Gyesa Shrine, and the Loyalty Tower.
