Jinju City Council Begins New Year Tribute Tower Visit Duties
Policy Support Officer New Civil Servant Appointment Ceremony
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Jinju City Council in Gyeongnam officially commenced its duties on the 2nd with a New Year’s visit to the Chung Hon Tower, pledging to advance legislative work in the Year of the Rabbit.
Chairman Yang Hae-young, along with all city council members and about 30 staff from the council secretariat, paid tribute to the spirits of the patriotic martyrs and national heroes through flower offerings and a moment of silence, praying for the well-being of Jinju citizens.
Chairman Yang stated, “We will fulfill the responsibilities and duties of a representative body this year as servants of the citizens, protecting our homeland and Jinju, which were established through the dedication of our patriotic ancestors.”
Following this, the city council held a New Year’s greeting meeting for 2023 in the second-floor conference room of the council building with Jinju Mayor Jo Gyu-il, renewing their determination for legislative work in the new year. An appointment ceremony was also held for new public officials, including policy advisors, appointing six fixed-term public officials, among them five policy advisors.
Policy Advisor Park Hye-young, who received the appointment letter that day, said, “I want to fully understand the duties of a policy advisor and serve as a reliable supporter in legislative activities for the citizens by assisting the council members.”

The increase in policy advisors, amounting to half of the total number of council members, will be completed this year. The council secretariat has reorganized its structure by establishing a legislative support team to strengthen the professionalism of legislative work.
