According to the AP News on the 2nd, Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, stated that some energy infrastructure in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv was damaged by explosions last night, and one person was injured and taken to the hospital.
Mayor Klitschko reported that around 40 suicide drones flew toward Kyiv overnight, and the air defense system shot down all of them.
He added that 22 drones were intercepted over Kyiv, 3 on the outskirts of Kyiv, and 15 in neighboring areas of Kyiv.
Oleksiy Kuleba, governor of Kyiv, said that important infrastructure and residential buildings in the outskirts of Kyiv were attacked by drones.
Following the launch of about 30 missiles on the last day of last year, Russia carried out airstrikes using suicide drones and missiles again on the first day of the new year.
