Photographer Kim Jung-man Passes Away at Age 68
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Kim Jung-man, a photographer representing Korea, passed away on the 31st, according to Yonhap News Agency’s confirmation with the bereaved family.
Kim was reported to have died that morning while battling pneumonia. Born in 1954 in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province, he followed his father, a government-dispatched doctor, to Burkina Faso in Africa and later studied Western painting at the National School of Applied Arts in Nice, France.
He worked as a freelance photographer for fashion magazines in France before returning to Korea in 1979. He photographed famous stars and worked on movie posters. Since 2006, he stopped commercial photography and devoted himself to capturing the beauty of Korean nature, including Dokdo, holding exhibitions.
The funeral hall will be set up at Korea University Anam Hospital Funeral Hall on January 1 of next year. The funeral service will be held on the 3rd of the same month.
