Daejeon City Designates Additional Regional Emergency Medical Center... "Resolving Emergency Medical Care Within the Region"
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will designate an additional regional emergency medical center to enable final emergency and disaster medical services within the region.
The city announced on the 31st that starting January 1 next year, Yuseong Sun Hospital will be additionally designated as a regional emergency medical center, establishing an emergency medical system capable of promptly treating emergency patients in the southwestern area and Sejong City.
With this additional designation, the regional emergency medical centers will expand to four hospitals: Daejeon St. Mary’s Hospital, Daejeon Sun Hospital, Eulji University Hospital, and Yuseong Sun Hospital.
Separately, the city has also designated and operates two regional emergency medical centers (Chungnam National University Hospital, Konyang University Hospital) and one regional trauma center (Eulji University Hospital) as regional base hospitals, thereby establishing a regional emergency medical system.
For pediatric emergency patient care, three hospitals?Bongki Hospital, Tanbang MBL Hospital, and Kozel Hospital?have been designated as Moonlight Children’s Hospitals, creating a system to prepare for emergencies during nights and holidays.
Additionally, to prepare for mass casualty incidents, rapid response teams have been organized centered on the heads of health centers in five districts. Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMAT), a recent focus, have been established at Chungnam National University Hospital and Konyang University Hospital to strengthen medical response capabilities at disaster sites.
The city’s efforts to build this medical system have also resulted in winning the top prize (overall 1st place) at the recent Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Comprehensive Disaster Emergency Medical Training Competition.
