Yoon: "North Korea's Drone Provocation Creates Social Unrest... Will Respond Firmly"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] On the 29th, regarding North Korea's drone intrusion into our airspace, President Yoon Suk-yeol stated, "North Korea's drone provocations are intended to disrupt our normal national functions and create social unrest," and instructed, "Promptly devise multifaceted measures to protect the people from such provocations."
Lee Jae-myung, Deputy Spokesperson of the Presidential Office, said in a briefing that President Yoon made these remarks during a visit to the National Security Council (NSC) Standing Committee meeting chaired by Kim Sung-han, Director of the National Security Office, at the Yongsan Presidential Office that day.
President Yoon said, "It is absolutely unacceptable for North Korea to violate our airspace and threaten our people," and added, "The military must maintain an unwavering state of readiness and respond immediately and decisively to any provocations from North Korea."
Deputy Spokesperson Lee stated, "Following President Yoon's instructions, we have decided to promptly take necessary measures such as addressing vulnerabilities revealed during the drone response process, establishing a drone unit, acquiring stealth drones, and strengthening drone countermeasure training."
Attendees at the meeting included Kim Sung-han, Director of the National Security Office; Kim Dae-gi, Chief of Staff; Park Jin, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Kwon Young-se, Minister of Unification; Lee Jong-sup, Minister of National Defense; Kim Kyu-hyun, Director of the National Intelligence Service; Kim Seung-gyeom, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Kim Tae-hyo, Director of the NSC Secretariat and First Deputy Director of the National Security Office; and Lim Jong-deuk, Second Deputy Director of the National Security Office.
A Presidential Office official said that day, "Taking measures commensurate with North Korea's provocations is a very natural exercise of the right to self-defense," and added, "Being prepared for escalation is a matter of outcome."

He further stated, "Only when North Korea pays a harsh price for such provocations will it be able to stop such reckless acts," and added, "The Yoon Suk-yeol administration holds a fundamental stance of not tolerating any provocations within a firm combined defense posture based on the ROK-U.S. alliance."
