Hapcheon-gun Selected for Additional 'Yongheung Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project'
Secured 70.6 Billion KRW in National and Provincial Funds for Disaster Prevention Projects

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that it has secured an additional 19 billion KRW in national and provincial funds as the ‘Yongheung Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project’ was newly selected as part of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s 2023 disaster prevention projects.
Hapcheon-gun has secured a total of 70.6 billion KRW in national and provincial funds, including 51.6 billion KRW for the already selected 2023 disaster prevention projects by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety such as the ‘Sangbu Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District’, ‘Nakmin Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project’, and ‘Wolgwang Steep Slope Collapse Risk Area Maintenance Project’, along with 19 billion KRW for the ‘Yongheung Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project’.
The disaster prevention projects are aimed at proactively maintaining areas at risk of flooding, steep slopes, and reservoirs vulnerable to collapse due to aging, in order to minimize damage to residents from unexpected natural disasters. The projects include ▲ comprehensive maintenance of flood and wind disaster living zones ▲ natural disaster risk improvement district maintenance ▲ disaster-risk reservoirs ▲ steep slope collapse risk areas ▲ installation of rainwater retention facilities.
The newly selected ‘Yongheung Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project’ plans to invest a total of 25 billion KRW to maintain small streams and install one multipurpose drought disaster prevention facility, which is expected to significantly contribute to resolving water supply shortages caused by insufficient water flow and protecting forest areas and private property in the Samga-myeon area in case of forest fires.
