Gochang-gun Signs Investment Agreement for 'Comprehensive Theme Park Development Project'

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun has signed an investment agreement with HJ Magnolia Yongpyong Hotel & Resort Co., Ltd. for a 350 billion KRW comprehensive theme park development project.

The county announced on the 28th that it held the 'Gochang Comprehensive Theme Park Development Project Investment Agreement Ceremony' at the county office's main conference room.

Attendees at the ceremony included Shim Deokseop, Governor of Gochang-gun; Shin Dalsun, CEO of Yongpyong Resort; Lim Jeongho, Chairman of Gochang County Council; Yoon Junbyung, National Assembly member of the Democratic Party; and officials from both organizations.

Yongpyong Resort plans to invest approximately 350 billion KRW by 2027 to build a resort-type complex resort in the Simwon-myeon area of Gochang-gun, including leisure facilities. The accommodation facilities are expected to be medium to large scale with at least 300 rooms.

The county has faced difficulties attracting tourists and hosting large-scale events due to a shortage of accommodation facilities.

With this investment by Yongpyong Resort, the establishment of large-scale accommodation facilities is expected to transform Gochang from a pass-through location to a destination where visitors stay.

The county expects that more than 600 new jobs will be created through this project, and that tourism infrastructure and commercial districts will be formed, maximizing the impact on the local economy.

Additionally, the opening of Saemangeum International Airport (scheduled for 2029) and the opening of Noeul Bridge (scheduled for 2030) are planned, making this a key project that will change the landscape of tourism in the western region of Gochang in the future.

The county plans to form a dedicated team composed of public officials from the marine and fisheries, construction, and tourism and culture departments to support smooth project implementation.

Governor Shim Deokseop said, "This investment agreement is a very important project that will drive Gochang's economy and tourism in the future," and added, "We will cooperate and communicate more closely to support the successful promotion of the Gochang Comprehensive Theme Park Development Project."
