View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Italian commercial vehicle brand IVECO announced on the 28th that it will participate in the world-renowned off-road automobile race "Dakar Rally 2023," held in Saudi Arabia from the 31st of this month to January 15th next year.
IVECO is participating as the official sponsor of the "Boss Machinery Team de Roy IVECO" and the "Eurol Team de Roy IVECO," providing a total of four rally trucks, engines, and replacement parts.
This season's race trucks are based on the "Powerstar." They are equipped with a specially manufactured 13ℓ IVECO Cursor engine by FPT (Fiat Powertrain Technologies), the powertrain brand under the IVECO Group, delivering a maximum output of 1,000 horsepower. Additionally, the latest FPT technologies have been applied to the suspension and tire air pressure optimization system.
Fabio Santiago, Head of Marketing and Product Management for IVECO Truck Business, stated, "We expect IVECO's Powerstar trucks to demonstrate powerful performance that is not constrained by terrain conditions in the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia, considered one of the toughest races in the world."

Meanwhile, this Dakar Rally is being held in Saudi Arabia for the fourth time. A total of 365 vehicles compete over a rugged course spanning 8,500 km. The race starts on the Red Sea coast in western Saudi Arabia and finishes in Damman, a city on the opposite side of the peninsula.
