Ministry of the Interior and Safety Announces 5 Outstanding Institutions for Public Sector Space Innovation

[Asia Economy Reporter Seong Giho] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 27th that it selected five institutions as outstanding organizations through the '2022 Public Sector Space Innovation Best Practices Contest': the National Gwacheon Science Museum, Korea Gas Corporation, Korea South-East Power, Korea Water Resources Corporation Nakdong River Basin Headquarters, and Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province.
The contest was held from October 21 to November 4, targeting central administrative agencies, local governments, and public institutions. After evaluations by judges composed of architecture professors and private indoor environment design experts, five institutions were selected.
Looking at the best practices by institution, the National Gwacheon Science Museum under the Ministry of Science and ICT enhanced work productivity through meeting rooms composed of idea boards, a prototype workshop where exhibition science teaching aids can be simply implemented, and a video production room capable of filming and editing videos.
Korea Gas Corporation created focused workspaces consisting of single-person workspaces using noise-blocking glass and partitions with high noise absorption performance, and transformed some executive offices into meeting rooms to facilitate smooth communication among employees.
Korea South-East Power introduced personal drawers that can be opened and locked by contact with employee ID cards (RFID) and increased the utilization of meeting spaces and auditoriums by using furniture that can be reshaped.
Korea Water Resources Corporation Nakdong River Basin Headquarters installed folding doors to adjust the size of meeting rooms and promoted active communication and collaboration among employees through standing communication spaces and dedicated communication areas.
Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province, distinguished chair colors according to the type of civil complaint so that residents can easily find the service counters, and provided spaces for unmanned civil service issuance machines to allow residents to conveniently use them even after business hours.
