Iran Anti-Government Protesters Face Death Penalty... Including Football Players
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunju Lee] Dozens of anti-government protesters in Iran are facing the threat of execution.
According to CNN on the 23rd (local time), the executions of 43 Iranian anti-government protesters are imminent. Among those sentenced to death is football player Amir Nasr-Azadani.
Nasr-Azadani is accused of being involved in the killing of three security personnel, including two volunteer Basij militia members, during protests in Isfahan on the 16th of last month. Iran's state-run IRNA news agency reported last week that he was charged with rioting against the authorities.
