"Never Say It's Over"... What Is Yuseungmin's Intention Behind Posting the 'LoL Theme Song'?
The Day the General Public Opinion Poll Was Abolished
Posted 'League of Legends World Championship Theme Song'
Mentioned 'The Important Thing Is an Unbreakable Spirit'
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the day the general public opinion poll was abolished in the People Power Party leadership race, former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min posted the "League of Legends World Championship Theme Song." Through this marching song-like theme, former lawmaker Yoo is evaluated in political circles as having expressed his will to "resist" despite the leadership race rules.
On the 24th, former lawmaker Yoo posted a music video of the 2022 League of Legends World Championship theme song on his social media (SNS). The post contained no additional text but included hashtags such as '#Jungkkokma #YooSeungmin.' Jungkkokma is an abbreviation for "The important thing is an unyielding heart."
For former lawmaker Yoo, who was mentioned as a candidate for the People Power Party leader, this day brought a significant variable that could make him reconsider running. This was the day the People Power Party held the Standing National Committee and completed the party constitution amendment. According to the amended party constitution, the general public opinion poll, which previously accounted for 30% in the leader selection process, was abolished, and the leader is now to be elected solely by party member votes. A runoff voting system was newly added. Former lawmaker Yoo showed strength in polls targeting the general public but struggled to gain traction in polls among People Power Party supporters.
According to a poll released by Media Tomato (commissioned by News Tomato, conducted from the 19th to the 21st among 1,050 adults nationwide aged 18 and over using wireless ARS), when asked who is more suitable as the next People Power Party leader between former lawmaker Yoo and the pro-Yoon unified candidate, 42.5% of respondents said Yoo was suitable. Those who thought the pro-Yoon unified candidate was suitable accounted for 28.6%, and 28.6% responded that they did not know. (For detailed survey outlines and results, refer to the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission website.) Based on the survey results alone, Yoo appears to be overwhelmingly strong.
However, when limited to People Power Party supporters, who make up 40.1% of the total respondents, the results were reversed. Only 9.4% said Yoo was suitable, while 64.5% said the pro-Yoon unified candidate was suitable. This suggests that while Yoo is favored by public sentiment, he is at a disadvantage within the party base. In fact, political circles have already predicted that the biggest victim of this party constitution amendment would be former lawmaker Yoo.
At this point, the "League of Legends World Championship Theme Song" posted by former lawmaker Yoo inevitably carries meaning.
The lyrics actually contain content similar to a battle march. Starting with "Never say it's over. I'm still breathing," the lyrics include lines such as "On the journey to the heights, I risk my life even in meaningless tasks," and "Don't listen to those who don't even try. They said I wouldn't survive. They said I would never rise. I'll show them a lesson."
Additionally, the lyrics say, "Prove every day that they are wrong," "These devils hate me. They really hate me. They want to fight me. Come on, try me," and "Even if they torment me, I never despair."
